Walter BeneschWalter Benesch was born in Lenox Hill Hospital on Park Avenue, New York City, and raised in Brooklyn and northwest Connecticut. After graduating from Franconia College, he earned his M.A. in Anthropology from The New School for Social Research in NYC studying under noted scholars Ralph Holloway and Michael Harner.Walter began his career in youth services in Harlem and the South Bronx, volunteered with the Police Athletic League, and worked briefly as a cab driver in Manhattan. He also served as a foster parent to Nim Chimpsky, Columbia University's famous signing chimpanzee, and appears in the documentary Project Nim.His most distinguished position came after completing his MSSS at Boston University, when he worked at the Pentagon in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. There, he played a key role in creating The Y2K Management Plan for the Department of Defense. He later retired from the Department of Homeland Security after over 30 years in federal service.An active Freemason, Walter held numerous leadership roles in Virginia and Washington, D.C., and continues to share Masonic lectures on YouTube through Sapere Audi.
