Wallace GustafsonWallace "Wally" Gustafson is the author, illustrator, and designer for the coffee table book "I Was Normal Then I Got Hit By A Car". Before you think that he takes getting hit by a car lightly, it's quite the opposite. He was hit by a car when he was2-years old. Wallace was knocked 10 feet up the street, unconscious, the radiator imprint on his face, and blood coming out of his ears. He's often joked that had it not been for that accident, he would have been a rocket scientist. While that's probably not the case, who can prove otherwise?! As a junior in high school, Wallace wanted to become a graphic designer, but was convinced by his buddies that there was "no money in design", so he chose the next logical degree - accounting. As anticipated, an aspiring designer would not love accounting, so he shifted to a degree in Marketing. Wallace went on to work in corporate America, earning his MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, and eventually created and ran several startup companies in the St. Louis area. Despite creating a life in the business world, he never lost his love for design. While his dream to be a designer might have been derailed for 30+ years by the wisdom of 17 year old boys, he began working on "I Was Normal Then I Got Hit By A Car" in 2018 and finished in 2019. It's a humorous coffee table book that combines his love for design and the odd sense of humor he developed after getting hit by a car. BTW, getting hit by a car is not a prerequisite to enjoy the book -- just a corny sense of humor. Wallace hopes his book inspires others to follow their passions and remember that you're never too old to pursue your dreams, even if everyone thinks you're crazy. Read More Read Less
