Vincent Strudwick

Revd Dr Vincent Strudwick (1932–2025) was a distinguished priest and educator who played a pivotal role in Anglican ministerial formation. For his significant contributions to the Church, he was awarded a Lambeth Doctorate (DD) by the Archbishop o Canterbury in 2009. As Principal of the St Albans and Oxford Ministry Course, he pioneered innovative theological education, later serving as a Fellow and Tutor of Kellogg College, Oxford. An Honorary Canon of Christ Church, he authored several works including The Naked God: Wrestling for a Grace-ful Humanity (2017) and Eliot’s Transitions: T. S. Eliot’s Search for Identity and the Society of the Sacred Mission at Kelham Hall (SLG Press, 2024). He was a modest and gentle person, a beloved teacher who quietly inspired several generations of church leaders. Throughout his career, he remained a tireless advocate for a church that is intellectually engaged, socially inclusive, and deeply rooted in the pursuit of social justice.
