Ten years later, after retirement, he started writing childrens books on a regular basis. He has written a series of stories based on as character he created, SPARKLES, a polar bear cub. The first story in the series of 5 books was SPARKLES HELPS SANTA. The success of this book was followed up with stories entitled SPARKLES GOES HOME, SPARKLES ADVENTURE and SPARKLES THE TOY MAKER. Each story picks up where the previous book ended. The final book, SPARKLES COLORING BOOK WITH PUZZLES, is a coloring book with simple to challenging puzzles referencing all 4 stories. This can be fun.Uncle Jim has also published HONEY BEAR & JAKE, a true dog's tale filled with emotion. In response to what children are being taught in school, he published I'M ONLY A CHILD.
