Udo Grashoff
Udo Grashoff is Francis L Carsten DAAD Lecturer in Modern German History at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, UCL. He examines resistance, opposition, political violence and individual agency in borderline situations. Instead of a implifying contrasting juxtaposition of rulers and subjects, he is interested in grey areas, negotiations, interactions and hybrid forms. He is author of Schwarzwohnen: Die Unterwanderung der staatlichen Wohnraumlenkung der DDR (2011) and 'In einem Anfall von Depression...': Selbsttoetungen in der DDR (2006). He is currently working on a project titled 'Betrayal within the communist resistance movement against the Nazi regime.'
