Tom LangI began practicing Danzan Ryu (Kodenkan) Jujutsu in 1971. I was promoted to 4th-degree black belt in Danzan Ryu by the American Judo and Jujitsu Federation (AJJF) in 1987 and was recognized as a 5th-degree black belt by the Pacific Jujutsu Alliance (JA) in 2009 and as a 6th-degree black belt Professor by the Shoshin Ryu Yudanshakai in 2019. For several years, I studied Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido and Aikijo (the 4-foot staff) with Sensei Don Zier, who is the author of Japanese sword drawing: A source book for Iaido students, and of Jo, The Japanese Short Staff. I received a 2nd-degree black belt from the All Japan Kendo Federation's iaido group in Southern California in 1983.
