Tom Hawthorn has written for The Globe and Mail for thirty-four years. He is also the author of Deadlines: Obits of Memorable British Columbians (Harbour Publishing, 2012) and more recently The Year CanadiansLost Their Minds and Found Their Country(Douglas & McIntyre, 2017). He lives in Victoria, BC.
