Thomas LehnerDr. Thomas Lehner is the Director of the Office for Genomics Research Coordination at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), National Institutes of Health (NIH). He oversees and coordinates all efforts associated with genomics research for the NIMH and is the principal advisor to the NIMH Director and the NIMH Scientific Director for issues related to genetics and genomics. A native of Vienna, Austria, he received a Ph.D. in genetics from the University of Vienna and an MPH in Epidemiology from Columbia University. Since joining NIMH in 2004 Thomas has been instrumental in developing Team Science as a new paradigm for psychiatric genomics and forging international collaborative efforts and consortia. He has also been instrumental in developing and consolidating genomics resources for the research community through participation in developing NIH data sharing policies for genomics including the Genomic Data Sharing (GDS) policy and its implementation.
