Thomas J. NicholsonThom was born in Springfield, Missouri, and graduated from Missouri School of Mines with a bachelor s degree in nuclear engineering. After joining the US Army, he graduated from Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he is now in it Hall of Fame. He joined Special Forces and his initial overseas assignment was in South Vietnam, where he was the XO of Camp A-224, Phu Tuc, which actively engaged in operations against the Viet Cong.

He retired in 1996 as a full colonel. He is a Registered Professional Engineer, a graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and an Enrolled Agent of the IRS. He is married to Sandra and lives in Highland Ranch, Colorado. They have five grown children.
