Thinagaran PerumalThinagaran Perumal was awarded the 2014 Early Career Award by the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society for his pioneering contributions to the field of consumer technologies. He obtained his PhD from Universiti Putra Malaysia, specializing in smart techology and robotics. Currently, he is an Associate Professor and serves as the Head of the Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University Putra Malaysia. Additionally, he holds the position of Chair of the IEEE Consumer Technology Society Malaysia Chapter. Dr. Thinagaran’s research focuses on Interoperability in Smart Homes and the Internet of Things (IoT), wearable computing, and cyber-physical systems. His notable contributions include the development of proactive IoT architectures, cognitive and semantic IoT frameworks for smart homes, and wearable technology for rehabilitation purposes. Since 2018, he has been leading the National Committee on Standardization for IoT (IEC/ISO TC/G/16) as Chairman. He is also actively involved in the IEEE Consumer Technology Society and its Future Directions Committee on IoT, contributing to the advancement of emerging technologies. Dr. Thinagaran has been invited to deliver keynote speeches and plenary talks on IoT at various international institutions and organizations.
