Tamara E. DavisDr. Tammy Davis is a Professor in the Counseling program at Marymount University in Arlington, VA, teaching primarily in the school counseling program. Before coming to Marymount in 1999, Dr. Davis was an elementary and high school counselor for nineyears in Manassas, Virginia. Her professional positions have included being Past President of the Virginia Association for Counselor Education & Supervision and of the Virginia School Counselor Association. She served on the Board of Directors of the American School Counselor Association (2010-2013). Dr. Davis has presented over 100 workshops locally, regionally, and nationally on a number of topics in school counseling, including developing resilience and positive thinking in students. She has been an invited keynote in several states. Her publications include books and articles in school counseling as well as book chapters on counseling suicidal children and group counseling in schools. She was named the 2007 Counselor Educator of the Year by the American School Counselor Association. She teaches courses at Marymount in both the school and community counseling graduate programs and supervises all of the Practicum experiences for the school counseling students. Dr. Davis serves as the coordinator for the Northern Virginia School Counseling Leadership Team.
