T. TomitaThe authors jointly have more than half a century's experience in smooth muscle research. Both were members of Edith Bulbring's Oxford Group. Professor Tomita worked in Oxford on the cable properties of smooth muscles for which he received his Doctorof Philosophy Degree. After returning to Japan he was appointed Professor of Physiology at Nagoya State University in 1979.
