Suzanne SimonsSuzanne sparked the city of Olympia, Washington to establish a poet laureate program. Her first full-length poetry collection was Road to Winnemucca. Her poems have been anthologized in I Sing the Salmon Home (Empty Bowl Press), winner of the 2024 Wahington State Book Award for Best Poetry; Mud Flat Verse; Garden of the Covid Museum; and Dancing at the Edges. Suzanne's poems have also been published in Western Friend, Cirque, Aethlon: The Journal of Sports Literature, Issued: Stories of Service, and appeared at Olympia, Washington Arts Walk, the Josephy Cultural Center of Joseph, Oregon, and in stone at a local skateboard park. Her poem "Instructions for Erasure" on the internment of Americans of Japanese ancestry received an honorable mention in the Lader Poetry of Witness award from the North Carolina Poetry Society.
