Suzanne C MiddletonI am a 58-year-old mother of three, soon to be a grandmother. I grew up on Long Island and was raised Catholic, moving to Maryland in 1991. I come from a very close and loving Italian family, and I love the fact that I grew up with cousins, aunts, unles and grandparents close by. My mother's sudden Illness from brain cancer at age 62 shook us all, and our family was never quite the same after her passing. I began compiling stories about my mother while my sons were still quite young and my daughter had just been born. The purpose for this was to ensure that my children could know more about the grandmother that they never got to meet. Over the years, more and more stories made their way onto the pages, and I began adding my own anecdotes as a mother to the mix. As my spirituality grew, it seemed as though scripture was the last ingredient necessary to complete my manuscript. My mom's hard work and sacrifice enabled me to earn a biology degree, and I have worked as a Microbiologist for the past 37 years. Her own love of teaching sparked my desire and commitment to improve public education, and I am proud to have been a part of starting the first Classical Charter School in Maryland in 2013.This manuscript is a tribute to her, and I have felt the calling to get it published so that it could be of some comfort to other people who are trying to raise their own children in the absence of a loved one.
