Steve Conboy

As an inventor, entrepreneur, and longtime building and lumber industry professional with more than 45 years of experience, Steve Conboy has dedicated much of his career to developing safer, more proactive approaches to fire and wildfire defense.

Conboy began his career as a union carpenter in New York before turning his attention to fire science and the environmental challenges associated with traditional fire-retardant chemistry. His work has focused on changing wildfire defense from a primarily reactive model to a proactive approach, treating vulnerable fuels and protecting structures and property before wildfire arrives.To that end, he founded Mighty Fire Breaker and led the development of CitroTech(R), a fire-inhibiting chemistry that went on to earn recognition through the US EPA Safer Choice program. CitroTech's history credits Conboy with developing the core chemistry, building its intellectual-property foundation, and providing technical leadership as the technology pursued environmental and fire-performance certifications.

Today, Conboy is also the founder and president of Wildfire Pro Shop, bringing wildfire-defense education, equipment, Safer Choice chemistry, and proactive risk-reduction strategies directly to homeowners, contractors, businesses, resorts, and communities. The first Wildfire Pro Shop opened in Incline Village in the Lake Tahoe area.

From Mighty Fire Breaker and the development of CitroTech to his current work with Wildfire Pro Shop, Steve Conboy's mission has remained centered on one goal: helping protect people, property, communities, and the environment through safer chemistry and proactive wildfire defense.
