Stephen M Cox
Stephen M. Cox is a professor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Central Connecticut State University. Prior to coming to CCSU, he was a social science analyst at the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services in the U.S.Department of Justice. In addition to teaching numerous graduate and undergraduate courses at CCSU, he has worked with many criminal justice and social services agencies across Connecticut as a consultant, evaluator, and expert witness. He has also been the lead researcher in 47 grant-related projects, including 16 federal grants focusing on many aspects of the criminal justice system such as juvenile risk assessments, probation practices, employment opportunities and processes for returning citizens, domestic violence programming, racial profiling, police contacts with juveniles, substance abuse programs, urban Juvenile Review Boards, public safety neighborhood initiatives, offender programming, and prison population projections. He has a Ph.D. in criminal justice from Michigan State University, a master's degree in criminal justice from Eastern Kentucky University, and a bachelor's degree in police studies from Eastern Kentucky University.
