Stephen GappsDr Stephen Gapps is a Sydney based public historian and museum curator, currently at the Australian National Maritime Museum. He has worked extensively as a professional historian on a variety of oral and written history projects ranging from historis of pastoral sheep and cattle stations, to Sydney pubs, to deserted gold mining towns. Stephen has published widely on his particular research interest; historical re-enactments and commemorations of national history. He was Visiting Fellow in Re-enactment at the Australian National University in 2007 and his 2003 doctoral thesis was a history of historical re-enactments. In the course of his research, Stephen has been known to dress as both a British redcoat soldier and an Irish convict rebel.
