Stacie SmithArtist and poet Stacie Smith was born in Salem, Oregon, in 1945. She is a fourth-generation Oregonian whose maternal great-great-grandparents came west on the Oregon Trail. Stacie grew up in the Willamette Valley and in the mid-1960s studied writing ith William Stafford at Lewis and Clark College in Portland. Stacie currently resides in her hometown, Eugene, Oregon.
