Shanina Sharatol Ahmad ShahDr. Shanina Sharatol Ahmad Shah has been a Senior Lecturer at the Language and Literacy Education Department, Faculty of Education, University of Malaya since 2015. She is also currently serving as the Head of Department of Language and Literacy Eduction at the same faculty. Her responsibilities include teaching language education courses which include English Phonetics and Phonology, Linguistics for Language Teachers, Foundation of Language Teaching Methodology, Teaching of Reading, Syllabus Design and Material Development, and Simulated Teaching. On top of that, she also teaches Qualitative Research Methods and Educational Philosophy; as well as supervising postgraduate and undergraduate students’ research. She holds a doctoral degree in Education (TESL) from University of Malaya, a master of education degree (TESL) from the University of Malaya, and a bachelor of education degree (TESOL) from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom. Her current research interests include English Language teaching methodology and second language teacher education. Shanina’s main research has focused on qualitative research methods and teacher’s cognition in Pronunciation instruction. She has also written numerous book chapters and journal articles on research related to language teacher education. For the past 25 years, her work has also revolved around working with pre-service and in-service teachers in improving and enhancing English Language literacy among students at various levels and the community through various projects under several research grants. Shanina has supervised her undergraduate students on various reading projects specifically on extensive reading.
