He has conducted fieldwork and research in the Pacific (Palau, Pohnpei, American Samoa, Easter Island), Caribbean (Barbados, Carriacou) and East Asia (Okinawa). Hisprimary interests include archaeology, colonization and migration, maritime adaptations, trade and exchange systems, culture contact, and the evolution of complex societies.
