Roxanna BrockROXANNA BROCK is a world-class rock climber who has conquered big walls in Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Yosemite, and Red Rocks. In more than a decade of climbing, she has red-pointed more than twenty-five 5.13 sport climbs and climbed El Cpital ten times. Roxanna has put up more than 30 first ascents of sport and traditional routes, including the following at Red Rocks: * First female ascent of Desert Gold (5.13a) * First ascent, roof off-width, of Gimme' a Hand (5.11d) * First ascent, all free, 10 pitches, of Somewhere Over the Rainbow (5.11d/5.12a) * First female ascent, 11 pitches, leading all 11 pitches of Desert Solitaire VI (5.11, A3+) * First free ascent of Sergeant Slaughter, leading crux pitches, unrepeated (5.12b) * First free ascent of Emerald City, leading crux pitches, unrepeated (5.12d) Roxanna's climbing accomplishments have been reported in Rock & Ice magazine and Climbing magazine. She was one of the fifty climbers featured in Fifty Favorite Climbs and one of five female climbers featured in the documentary A Day in the Life: 5 Women Who Climb. Her articles and photographs have been published in Rock & Ice, Climbing, and the American Alpine Journal. She wrote, published, and distributed Las Vegas Limestone (2000) and co-wrote The Best Sport Climbs of the New River Gorge (1997). Roxanna currently lives in Las Vegas and works as a professional instructor and guide with the Red Rocks program of Jackson Hole Mountain Guides. She has been a professional member of the American Mountain Guides Association since 1994; she is a member of the Access Fund and the American Alpine Club; and she has served as the vice president/director of the Las Vegas Climber's Liaison Council.
