Ross BarkanRoss Barkan is a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine. His journalism and essays have appeared in the New York Times, New York Magazine, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, GQ, and the Columbia Jornalism Review, among others. Washington Post columnist Shadi Hamid called him "consistently one of the most interesting and original essayists of his generation."

In both 2017 and 2019, he was the recipient of the New York Press Club's award for distinguished newspaper commentary. He teaches journalism at NYU.

Barkan is the author of two novels and The Prince: Andrew Cuomo, Coronovirus, and the Fall of New York, about which The Nation wrote "A swift and devastating read.
