Ronald SpadaforaRonald Spadafora, a 33-year veteran of the Fire Department of New York (FDNY), holds the rank of assistant chief and serves as Chief of Logistics in the Bureau of Operations. He was involved in the World Trade Center response and rescue efforts and spervised both rescue and fire suppression efforts in the North Tower after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack. In October 2001 he was named the WTC chief of safety, serving in the position until the conclusion of the recovery operation in June 2002. He also headed the logistical operations for the NYC blackout in August 2003. In September 2005 he was designated deputy incident commander of the FDNY Incident Management Team and sent to Louisiana to assist the New Orleans Fire Department. Chief Spadafora has been an adjunct professor of fire science at John Jay College (CUNY) for more than 20 years and is the senior instructor for Fire Technology Inc. He is an editorial adviser and frequent writer for WNYF, the official training publication of the FDNY.
