Roger Webber

Roger Webber grew up in East Africa which gave him early exposure to travel to foreign countries. He qualified in medicine and worked in the Solomon Islands for the next ten years, during which he undertook research that led to a rogramme of eliminating filariasis from the world. He was posted to Tanzania as a Medical Coordinator of an aid programme and completed his second travel book. In 1985 he joined the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where he made extensive visits to Asia resulting in the book’s title.
