Robert T. JimenezRobert T. Jiménez is Professor of Language, Literacy, and Culture at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Jimenez's research focuses on the language and literacy practices of Latino students. A former bilingual education teacher, he is now conducting reearch on the ways that written language is conceptualized and used in contemporary Mexico. Professor Jiménez has received two Fulbright awards from the Council for the International Exchange of Scholars and the Albert J. Harris Award from the International Reading Association.

Valerie Ooka Pang is Professor, San Diego State University, School of Teacher Education. She has held fellowships at the Annenberg Institute for School Reform and the Spencer Foundation. Her articles have appeared in numerous professional publications.
