Robert Donovan A newspaper reporter since 1933, Robert J. Donovan by 1961 was Chief of the Washington Bureau of the New York Herald Tribune. He was with President Truman throughout the famous "whistle-stop" campaign of 1948 and on his trip to Wake Islandto confer with General MacArthur. He traveled with President Eisenhower during the 1952 and 1956 campaigns, and wrote the number-one bestselling Eisenhower: The Inside Story in 1956.
