Rich Johnson Rich Johnson is one of America's best-known experts on wilderness survival. He has written survival columns for Outdoor Life since 2001, Camping Life since 1997, and Off Road from 1990 through 1997. An Army Special Forces veteran, Rich lived for year in a remote region in Utah with his wife and children, staying in caves, a wikiup, and an abandoned mine shack, and eating snakes, lizards, chipmunks, rabbits, insects, and just about anything else that wandered by.
