Rayna GillmanRayna Gillman made her first quilt when as a young mother, finding a quilting class at the local art museum. The bi-centennial and the quilt explosion had not yet happened and she knew nobody who quilted. Except for the first class, she was self-taugt. Although she started with traditional quilts, she eventually started asking herself "what if...?" and knowing she had nothing to lose, she experimented and found her own way of doing things. She put the ruler aside and cut freehand. She sliced up pieces she was not happy with and made them into something fresh. She printed her own fabrics and combined them with fabrics in her stash. Above all, she improvised. and for nearly two decades, she has been teaching others develop their own abilities to improvise and create free-form quilts. Now she brings her improvisational way of working and her intuitive sense of color to the world of modern quilts. She invites you to continue the journey with her, combining free-form with Modern: a perfect fit! You can find her at www.studio78.net; on her blog http: //studio78notes.blogspot.com, on Facebook, and on Instagram @rayna_gillman. Read More Read Less
