Ray ShieldsRay retired with twenty-eight years of service as a firefighter, serving the last three as the fire commissioner. He then started a courier business working for law firms. Having witnessed life and death situations and understanding the judicial systm has helped him develop an interest in writing murder mysteries. He is a baseball fan and a vintage-car owner. He has been a Detroit Tigers season ticket holder for over thirty years. He owns three muscle cars from the 1960s that he enjoys driving with his family. He displays them at car shows in the area. He married his high school sweetheart, Pam, and they have two children, both of whom are married - Kim to her husband, Ken, and Chris to his wife, Debbie. Kim has been his business partner for over twenty years. Ray was lucky enough to have worked on the same fire department with his dad. He was honored when Chris too was hired by the city, making him the first third-generation firefighter. Chris now has over twenty-five years of service with the fire department.
