Raden Adjeng KartiniRaden Adjeng Kartini, or Lady Raden Adjeng Kartini, was a Javanese noblewoman who was born in Majong, Java (Indonesia), on April 21, 1879, and died in Rembang Regency, Java, on September 17, 1904. Her writings helped her become a significant figure fr both Indonesian feminism and the country's independence movement. Kartini had the uncommon chance to attend a Dutch school, which exposed her to Western ideals and helped her become proficient in Dutch. Her father was a Javanese aristocrat who served as governor of the Japara Regency (an administrative district) under the Dutch colonial authority.
