Philip DentBorn and brought up in Yorkshire in 1951 Philip Dent received a secondary education and left school without qualifications. Working life began in the farming communities of the Yorkshire Dales. A period at a cheese factory followed where he worked onreception. In 1997, he enrolled on a degree course in English at De Montfort University.
