His book How D. H. Lawrence Wrote: Performance on the Page (2026) is his latst with Cambridge University Press. He edited or co-edited works by Lawrence, Joseph Conrad and various Australian authors before writing a trilogy of linked monographs: Securing the Past (2009), Biography of a Book (2013) and The Work and the Reader in Literary Studies (2019). He then co-edited with Chris Vening The Letters of Charles Harpur and his Circle (Sydney University Press, 2023), the precursor to the present one subtitled 'Supplementary Letters'.
