Ni WencaiNi Wencai came of age in the early days of the Post-Mao era. He holds a B.A. in Law from Nanjing Normal University, and a M.A.in Economics from Macquarie University in Australia. He had a three-decades career in the county government of his hometown aoyou, Jiangsu Province, serving as Deputy Mayor, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, and Chairman of the Gaoyou People's Political Consultative Conference. Ni Wencai's interests extend far beyond his bureaucratic duties. He is an avid historian, writer and philatelist, and has continued to be a prolific scholar and writer in his official retirement. Aside from Love Without Borders, his publications include《故事里 的故事-1931年高邮特大洪灾和运堤修复历史再现纪实》The 1931 Flood Disaster at Gaoyou and Restoration of the Canal Dykes; the historical novel 《驿站风云》Storms Over the Postal Station, which became the basis for a popular television series; and numerous articles about local historical figures and events.
