Born in 1968, Pakistan, Mr Muhammad Shahid Malik is registered Legal Practitioner and Petroleum Sector Lawyer in Pakistan working as Senior Legal Counsel in a foreign Exploration and Production Company named Ocean Pakistan Limited (formerly OrientPetroleum International Inc.). He has done Law Graduation (LL.B.) from University of Punjab, Pakistan, Master Degree in Law (LL.M.) from University of Karachi, Pakistan and Master Degree in Political Science from University of Punjab and attended several local and international training courses in Petroleum Sector. He is also an office bearer of Energy Lawyers Association of Pakistan. He is the author of books titled 'Upstream Petroleum Laws & Regulatory Framework in Pakistan'; 'Manual of Petroleum Exploration Production Regulatory Regimes Pakistan'; 'Child Labor & Legislation in Pakistan' and 'International Encyclopedia for Labor Laws and Industrial Relations Pakistan'.
He has over 13 years experience in Upstream Oil and Gas sector dealing in Petroleum Sectors laws and provides legal advice on whole range of commercial and governance issues with sensitivity to regulatory compliance. He is also responsible for establishing and implementing legal controls and compliance systems. He has expertise in drafting and finalizing specialized Oil & Gas Contracts which includes PCAs, PSAs, Joint Operating Agreements, GSAs, COSAs, LPG SPAs, MOUs, Assignment Agreements, Novation Agreements, Pricing Agreements, Farmin/ Farmout Agreements, Settlement Agreements and related Supplemental Agreements. In addition, he has also expertise in drafting Seismic Contracts, Drilling Contracts, Construction Facilities Contracts, Service Contracts, Purchase Agreements, Assets Sale & Purchase Agreements, Financial Transaction Agreements, Sale Deeds and Land Lease Agreements. He helps in developing and understanding, risk mitigation strategies for contractual risks which may arise during project implementation phase. He also advises to different departments of the Company on legal and commercial issues.
He has been involved for over ten years in handling, implementation and compliance of employment laws, labour laws and industrial relations laws in the organizations. He handled several disciplinary and grievance cases, collective bargaining agents issues and participated in policy development and trade union negotiations and conducting industrial relations audit of the organization
