Mina JavaherbinMina Javaherbin is an award-winning children’s picture book author. She emigrated from Iran to the US over forty years ago. An architect by training, Mina has written several children’s books that explore cultures around the world inspired by ersian Literature, sports, and her childhood in Iran. Mina's bookshave been translated into seventeen languages. One of her books (The Secret Message – still in print by Disney and Scholastic) enjoys an audience of about one million readers per year as it has been a part of the national curriculum in the 4th grade text books across the USA, since 2012. Her book Goal!, illustrated by A.G. Ford, was an IRA Notable Book For A Global Society, and selected as the New York Public Library’s Best Books of the Year list 2010. Her book Soccer Star (Football Star) with illustrator Renato Alarcao was given two honorable mentions in the International Latin Book Awards 2015. My Grandma and Me illustrated by Lindsey Yankee enjoyed starred reviews from Kirkus Reviews, Publisher’s Weekly, School Library Journal, and Shelf Awareness. It was the Booklist’s Top 10 religion and spirituality books for youth in 2019, and named one of the 50 must-read children’s books by Book Riot. My Father’s House is her most recent book. It’s a companion book to her autobiographical, My Grandma and Me, taking the reader to a tour of Isfahan a unique UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mina’s hobbies are teaching yoga as a certified instructor, and sometimes writing and producing animation shorts.
