Mike Bostock
Mike Bostock was born in Bristol, England and studied Illustration at Bath Academy of Art between 1980-84. On graduating he worked as an editorial illustrator and also for a wide variety of design and advertising clients.His first commision toillustrate a picture book for children was THINK OF AN EEL written by Karen Wallace in 1993. This book won several awards among them the Kurt Maschler Award and the Times Education Supplement Junior Information Book Award and since then he has illustrated many picture books including IMAGINE YOU ARE A CROCODILE (1996) and IMAGINE YOU ARE A DOLPHIN (1997) for Hodder.He enjoys researching his subjects, and in particular, the opportunity drawing offers to understand, and simplify a subject and make it accessible and exciting to young readers. "Drawing is exploration; it encourages you to see things with a fresh eye revealing aspects of the subject which excite you and fill you with enthusiasm to communicate and share this with the reader".
