Mieke WitselDr Mieke Witsel leads Academic Professional Learning in the Centre for Teaching and Learning at Southern Cross University. Mieke's teaching philosophy involves transformative, experiential learning to improve student communication competency and posiively influence students' self-identity as future professionals. Mieke won a 2019 Australian Award for University Teaching Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, which recognised her for 'Empowering first year students to succeed with future studies and careers by building competence and confidence in C21st communication strategies in Business'. In 2019 she was also awarded a prestigious international fellow's award by the Council of Australian Universities Tourism and Hospitality Educators for contributions to tertiary education. Alongside undertaking corporate communications consultancy work, Mieke has taught and lectured in interpersonal and intercultural communication for more than 30 years, at undergraduate, postgraduate and corporate levels.
