Michael Walling Michael G. Walling joined the Coast Guard after graduating college in 1970. He served for six years as a commissioned officer. He has spent the last forty years studying World War II and the Great Depression that caused it. He has also spent mch of that time talking with hundreds of veterans from all the military services.
