He moved into radio, starting with a 1,000-watt day-timer AM station in Minneapolis as a news reporter and announcer. Movig into television, he helped launch a new TV station and produced taped and live variety, scripted, and sports shows for broadcast. He worked on documentary and corporate video productions for production companies. Barnard helped his friend pop star Prince open Paisley Park Studios and produced his ALPHABET STREET music video and other productions. Barnard's spec script for the hit ABC series MOONLIGHTING was brought to the attention of the William Morris Agency; he was invited to Hollywood, where he's lived ever since. He produced the theatrical feature film COLLIER & CO.-HOT PURSUIT! with John Schneider (Dukes of Hazzard, Smallville), produced and directed music videos and short films, and more television broadcasts. He worked for a decade at Sundance Film Festival as Special Theater Operations, and worked on several studio feature films as Shop Manager, worked in development assessing materials for development at an in-house deal at Warner Bros. Television, and worked as various crew on many film and TV projects. He wrote and directed short films, including HOT CAR, completed and with a quarter million views, and THE CAMERA, still in post-production.
