Maxine JohnsTurning forty has changed so many things about what I thought about myself, life, friends, love, purpose and it has given me a fresh new perspec-tive on how we, as women today, view our roles and the several lives we live in our lifetime. We do so muh, achieve so much, bear so much and carry so much on a daily basis it becomes our armour, and whilst we are made of the strength and en-durance to carry it all, it is ok to stop, put down the load and re-design our destiny anytime we choose to. Is it now your time to do this? I am still learning to put down my various loads and seek new and different avenues of self-discovery, but writing and finishing this book has been one load I have carried for many years, doubting myself and not knowing if my thoughts and voice were enough. What I have done and continue to do in this hip hop community, is always with my best intentions, belief, love, heart and soul. That I can I look back on the incredible life I have lived over the last 20 years and feel a great sense of achievement and pride knowing I did this my way.
