Matt MillerMatt is the director of My Invincible Compass, a documentary that follows the journeys of abused, neglected, and abandoned children across Japan living in institutional care facilities and what is required for them to be able to step into the next chpter of their story with a healed heart.Matt is a child rights advocate and educator. He moved to Japan in 2006 to research his Japanese family history. What he stumbled upon while learning about his father's childhood slowly revealed itself to become Matt's calling. Matt began taking a greater interest in the child welfare system and mental health care in Japan. He started volunteering and working with various NPOs and organizations around Japan to help improve the circumstances for the 45,000 children that are currently placed in alternative care.Matt created the My Invincible Compass documentary and children's book seeks to raise awareness around a very important social impact issue that remains marginalized and hidden away in Japan. That is children living away from their families inside the alternative care system and the psychological impact that it has on the children.
