Mary Helen SpechtMary Helen Specht’s work has appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times and Bookslut. She was born and raised in Abilene, Texas and earned a BA in English from Rice University and a MFA in creative writing from Emerson College. Awinner of the Richard Yates Short Story Award among other prizes, she is a former Fulbright Scholar to Nigeria and Dobie-Paisano Writing Fellow, and now teaches creative writing at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.
