Mary E BrownMary Evelyn Washington Brown was born and raised in Calvert County, Maryland. She is the daughter of the late George Samuel and Annie Rebecca Washington. She moved to Washington, DC, in 1966 to live permanently. She is the ninth child born in a famil of thirteen. She had eight brothers and four sisters. As of this date, two brothers and two sisters have passed away. As a young girl she was a dreamer, always fantasizing about the places she would go and the things she would do. She was always reading love novels and placing herself in the cities and countries of the places she read about. She would go out in the woods behind her house, find a large shady tree, clean off the ground around it to make it comfortable, and then spend hours reading. As far back as she can remember of the trials and tribulations in her life, she is certain that angels were always watching over her. This book is about the setbacks and sit ups in her life. When she became a teenager, she wasn't afraid to step out and do some of the things she often dreamed of doing, such as singing in clubs, appearing on television, and traveling. She was able to do most of these. She had the opportunity to travel to one of the places that she read about, the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was a little disappointing because it didn't have the romantic scenery that she read about in books, but the beignets were delicious. Read More Read Less
