Mark Thamert, OSB, is a monk of Saint John’s Abbey, Collegeville, Minnesota. Since receiving his PhD in Germanic languages and literatures from Princeton University in 1985, Thamert has taught all levels of German in the Language and Cultures Deartment at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.
