Mark Measures
Mark is a farmer’s son from Dorset. A conventional farm manager turned organic grower in the 1970s, he joined The Organic Research Centre (ORC) as farm manager in 1983. He set up the ORC Organic Advisory Service and headed it for 15 years before etablishing and running the Institute of Organic Training and Advice for 10 years. He was also instrumental in the establishment and initial management of the Organic Milk Suppliers Cooperative (now Organic Herd).
Mark is now an independent organic agriculture consultant specialising in provision of on-farm advice and training in farm business management, soil, crop and animal husbandry and conversion planning. He has provided policy advice to Government and has been involved in many research projects, providing technical advice and dissemination. He is a partner in a 150-acre organic mixed farm in the Shropshire Hills producing beef and lamb for local and other markets.
Mark has been editor of the Organic Farm Management Handbook since its inception in 1994.
