Mark Hill Qc
Mark Hill QC is a practising barrister specializing in ecclesiastical law and religious liberty, who represents clients in the domestic courts of the United Kingdom and at the European Court of Human Rights at Strasbourg. He is Honorary Professor f Law at Cardiff University's Centre for Law and Religion and Extraordinary Professor at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in its department of Church Polity. His publications include Religion and Discrimination Law in the European Union (Institute for European Constitutional Law, 2012), Ecclesiastical Law 3rd edn (Oxford University Press, 2007) Religious Liberty and Human Rights (University of Wales Press, 2002), and English Canon Law (University of Wales Press, 1998). He is Consultant Editor of the Ecclesiastical Law Journal (published by Cambridge University Press) and a member of the Editorial Board of the Oxford Journal of Law and Religion (published by Oxford University Press). He is a Recorder of the Crown Court, and Chancellor of the Dioceses of Chichester and Europe. Ecumenical Fellow in Canon Law at the Venerable English College in Rome, he is a former President of the European Consortium for Church and State and a member of the International Consortium for Law and Religion Studies. He regularly lectures in the United Kingdom and abroad on matters concerning the law of Church and State.
