A. C. Jewett came of a pioneering family, and had lived in Brazil and India before going to Afghanistan. He died at Papeete in the French Society Islands in 1925. Marjorie Jewett Bell, his niece, collected and edited these letters and notes, whih are illustrated with many excellent photographs.
