She is the author of two prize-winning books: The Making of the Jewish Middle Class: Women, Family and Identity in Imperial Germany (1991)and Between Dignity and Despair: Jewish Life in Nazi Germany (1998); and co-editor of a third prize winner with Deborah Dash Moore, Gender and Jewish History, (2011).
