Marian Schwartz is the principal English translator of Nina Berberova, and has translated classics by Mikhail Bulgakov, Ivan Goncharov, Mikhail Lermontov, and Leo Tolstoy. She is the recipient of two NEA translation fellowships an a past presi- dent of the American Literary Translators Association.
