Marc Taeymans
Marc Taeymans (° Mortsel, 1957), Legal Director at BNP Paribas Fortis in Brussels has an extended legal expertise and background in financial law, contract drawing and negotiations. Marc graduated in Law at the K.U. Leuven and obtained a Maser of Laws from the University of Virginia in 1981. He also completed studies at INSEAD (Fontainebleau). He started his career at Linklaters, before joining Generale Bank in 1990 as international legal counsel. He further served in different legal functions for the bank in Corporate Finance, Private Equity and Trust & Corporate Services, both in Brussels and abroad. He was alsoadvisor on the policy staff of the Flemish minister-president and has been assistant IT-law at KU Leuven and lecturer at the School for Public Administration (Hogeschool) in Gent. He was appointed judge in the Commercial court in Antwerp in 2009. He is co-author of “Standard Business Contracts under Belgian law” (edition 2009). He also made a compilation of European and Belgian IT-legislation under the title “Informaticarecht 2009”. He serves since 1991 on the editorial board of “Computerrecht” and has many publications on his name in this domain.
